SSL email?
Brent Pirolli, 2011-01-17 00:46:11
Is it not possible to send notifications via SSL SMTP servers? We migrated to SSL and can no longer send emails with this program. I then tried using my gmail account to send out and it suffers a different error...

I'm getting:
2011-01-16 18:10:36: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - Error while sending notification e-mail (e-mail: xxxxxxxxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com, error message: ABTools.SMTPMailer.SmtpException: Error setting sender email address. (550)
at ABTools.SMTPMailer.SMTPMailer.SendEmail(MailMessage msg)
at d.b(PrfungBDO A_0, Boolean A_1))

Is the only way to send out via a non SSL required server?

Hello Brent,

sending e-mails with SSL is possible now in the new version Check Host Pro with many new features.

You can find a list of new functions of Check Host Pro here:
http://www.ab-tools.com/en/software/checkhost/moreinfo/

Of course, the old Check Host will stay freeware. But please understand that due to the extensive development effort for the extended version Check Host Pro, we cannot make this new version free of charge. Anyway, it is available at a very affordable price of only 29,95 .

I would be glad if you would give Check Host Pro a try. Here you can find the download link to the free test version:
http://www.ab-tools.com/en/software/checkhostpro/
(An Import of existent checks of Check Host is possible, of course.)

Please don't hesitate to contact me in case of questions or suggestions.

Best regards
Andreas

Hello Brent,

at the moment Check Host only supports the SMTP authentication "auth login" (without SSL). If this is not accepted by the SMTP server the e-mail delivery will fail.

I know that this type of SMTP authentication is supported e. g. by GMX mailboxes.

Best regards
Andreas
