yes, Check Host is free, but there is a paid pro version of it: http://www.ab-tools.com/en/software/checkhostpro/ Both allow unlimited numbers of hosts, but in Check Host Pro there are several additional features that you might find useful and it runs as Windows service where the free Check Host just runs a normal user application (so a user always needs to be logged in).
