more than one search term at a time?
new user, 2008-10-09 21:05:05
What is the syntax for searching multiple terms in order to delete multiple lines?

For example, I'd like to have all lines with Googlebot or cuil removed from my web logs with one pass.

I tried "Googlebot or cuil" and that didn't work. I also tried a few other things which did not work either.

Is this possible?

Thanks!

Hello,

because this program supports regular expressions it is no problem to use it for your case.

If you want the line to contain e. g. the strings "AA" or "BB" you can use the regular expression:
.*(AA|BB).*

If you want the line to contain e. g. the strings "AA" and "BB" you can use the regular expression:
.*((AA).*(BB)|(BB).*(AA)).*

Hope, this helps.

Best regards
Andreas

Thank you! I was unsure as to what "regular expression" meant. This will help a lot.
